As one of the most fundamental components in hydraulic and pneumatic machinery, directional control valves are responsible for stopping, allowing, and changing direction of fluid flow from one or more sources. There are a few types of directional control valve designs, each categorized by number of ports and positions.
One of these designs changes the direction of fluid flow by mechanically or electrically controlling the position of a spool inside of a cylinder, while the position of the spool determines the direction of fluid flow. These are spool-type directional control valves.
Another design uses poppets rather than spools to control fluid flow. These poppets open and close to rapidly change the direction of fluid flow.
Elwood's DIN Poppet Directional Control Valves master the poppet design with positive, drop tight sealing. This is achieved by poppet type plunger assemblies with resilient seating discs which close against heated stainless steel mitered seats.
The Elwood DIN Poppet Directional Control Valves are available in 2-, 3- and 4-way functionality in a variety of mounting patterns.
If Elwood's standard line of Directional Control Valves do not fit your system's requirements, please request a custom design and our team will design the valve to fit your needs!
