Elwood-Gettys Group is committed to long-term customer support, and to preserving the significant installed base of motion control products that are effectively serving our customers on a daily basis. Over time, motors become damaged or worn to the point where refurbishment or replacement is necessary. Elwood-Gettys actively supports the refurbishment and/or direct replacement of all motors manufactured at our Racine facility.
For customers having a significant installed base (i.e. more than 50) of Elwood-Gettys motors, we created our Large-User Motor Refurbish/Replacement Program to significantly improve quality and delivery while reducing downtime and overall maintenance costs.
Unfortunately, motors are sometimes sent to local repair shops for service. These repair shops typically provide service based on their general motor experience, not on factory training or documentation. The resulting repairs rarely match original factory specifications.
With our Large-User Motor Refurbish/Replacement Program, Elwood-Gettys works directly with the end-user to coordinate all aspects of servicing the installed Elwood-Gettys motors. Inventory quantities and repair status is documented and monitored. A minimum inventory level is maintained at the user's location, while the remaining inventory is stored at Elwood-Gettys' Racine facility. When a production motor requires service, it is replaced with a locally inventoried motor. The failed motor is then sent back to Elwood-Gettys for evaluation and a refurbished or replaced motor is shipped to replenish the user's local inventory. In effect, Elwood-Gettys partners with the end-user in managing the maintenance of installed Gettys motors.
As added incentive for end-users to deal with the factory, Elwood-Gettys offers a substantially discounted fixed fee for motor refurbishment or replacement. Elwood-Gettys will evaluate returned motors and, at our discretion, either refurbish the motor to original factory specifications or provide a brand new replacement motor. In either case, the end-user pays a fixed price (60% of list price) and receives a full One-Year Factory Warranty.
Our fixed-fee program has the added benefit of dramatically improving turn-around time. Typically a motor is sent out for evaluation. After evaluation a repair charge is quoted. The repair charge quote must then be submitted for approval. Only after final approval of the quote repair charge will the repairs actually be done. Factoring in the complex approval processes in most large organizations, as well as the numerous levels of distribution normally found between the end-user and the manufacturer, getting a motor repaired can literally take months. With Elwood-Gettys Motor Refurbish/Replacement Program, the end-user knows exactly what the repair will cost up front, and can therefore submit the motor 'pre-approved' allowing a turn-around of days, not months. In addition, the end-user knows he will be receiving a 'like new' or 'new' motor, eliminating any quality-related repair issues.
Elwood-Gettys is currently working on Motor Refurbish/Replacement Programs at several Ford, GM, Dunlop Tire, and General Tire plants.
