Impact

Detect objects when they strike the pickup.

The sensor contains an impact-sensitive element in a steel case, welded to a steel plate. The plate may be oriented in different ways so that the object being detective strikes or shakes the plate.

Timers and plate orientation may be used to keep detection accurate.

Impacts as small as a 1/10 ounce steel ball falling two inches onto the plate can be detected, but in any case must be significantly greater than any environmental vibration. The pickup may be mounted on a larger plate to prevent damage from very large objects.
