Cut To Length
A photoelectric timing control equipped with a light source and
sensor mounted above and below the end of a cutting table measures and
cuts aluminum strips to required lengths. The control can also operate
an electric counter.
The end of the strip breaking the light beam energizes the
photoelectric control, which operates a shear. Positioning of the
table on which the light source and remote head are mounted
determines the lengths to be cut. For example, sheets can be
extended across a table from a roll. When the edge of the sheet
protrudes past the end of the table where the light beam is mounted,
the shears operate.
Photoelectric controls in this application allow continuous,
relatively high-speed cutting in extremely accurate measurements as
well as flexibility in cutting different lengths by using multiple controls.
