Transparent Objects
Most objects are traditionally detected by a photoelectrically
operated counter when they pass a light source and block the light
beam. Clear glass or plastic objects make this type of detection
unreliable, since minimal light is blocked by a transparent object.
However, even clear glass or plastic offer no problem to a
photoelectric control that uses LED proximity (diffuse reflection)
scanning. Light reflects off the near surface of each transparent
container as it passes the scanner. The reflected light
picked up by the scanner serves to energize the photoelectric control
which operates the electronic counter.
