Positional Board Sorting
Much of the expensive labor in many sorting operations can be
eliminated by using photoelectric controls. For a example, a
lumberyard or mill can use photoelectric controls to sort boards that
require additional processing.
Boards are put on narrow belt conveyors by operators. Boards to
be further processed are extended on one side of the belt conveyors. A
light-source/sensor pair is mounted above and below, and slightly to
the beyond this edge of the conveyor. The extended boards interrupt the
light beam of the control, which starts operating the removing
mechanism on the take-out conveyor. Boards not extending on the belt
conveyor pass through on the conveying system.
