Sizing Potatoes

The eye is quicker than the hand, and Autotron photoelectric controls are quicker than the eye -- and also more discerning.

For example, photoelectric controls are used to sort potatoes by size on a belt conveyor. The potatoes are run individually, length wise, on the conveyor. Two light beams are established across the conveyor at a distance slightly greater than the desired potato length. A third light beam is established equi-distant between the first two, and slightly higher than the desired potato diameter.

Potatoes that break tall light three light beam simultaneously are ejected.

Photoelectric controls can be designed to sort almost anything -- no matter how unusual its shape may be.
