Jam Up With Delayed Restart
Photoelectric controls with two automatic timing periods can be used
to control material such as grain building up in the neck of a chute.
One timer stops the feeder mechanism when falling objects jam-up in
the narrow neck of the chute, and the other delays restarting the
feeder mechanism for a predetermined period after the jam-up is
cleared.
The light beam is directed across the chute just above the maximum
build-up height of material at the neck. When a jam-up blocks the
light beam longer than the first timing period, the control sops the
feeder mechanism immediately.
After the light beam has been restored, a second automatic timing
period must expire before the feeder mechanism is restarted
automatically. This second timing period allows the operator time to
remove all objects from the entire length of the chute.
