End Of Roll

When and uneven rate of usage or frequent interruptions make it difficult to anticipate the need for a new supply of material, photoelectric controls can alert operators to shortages before they interfere with automated production.

For example, a control and reflector can be mounted on opposite sides of a paper roll with the light beam aimed slightly above the core. When the paper is about to run out, the light beam is restored and the control shuts down the machine.

The control can also sound an alarm, leaving a predetermined amount of paper or other material on the roll, so work in progress can be completed before the depleted roll is replaced.
