Automatic Pallet Wrapping

Pallets may be wrapped in a protective plastic sheet from roll a vertically mounted on a post near the pallet. The pallet itself is positioned on a turntable, and as the pallet turns, wrapping material comes off the roll on the stationary post. The roll starts with the lower edge at the level of the turntable, but moves up along the post as the sheet is unwound.

A photoelectric proximity control mounted just above the top of the roll monitors the height of the pallet load. As long as the pallet load reflects the light beam back to the sensor (in the same unit as the light source), the roll continues to move up the post.

When the light beam clears the top of the pallet load, the reflection is lost and the control stops the wrapping operation.

A brief time delay prevents false stops due to momentary loss of reflection from highly irregular shaped loads.
