Page Skew

The precise stops and positioning of copy in automatic photography requires the pinpoint accuracy photoelectric controls can provide.

Page sheets are passed on two narrow conveyor belts. Compact through-beam sensors are located between the conveyor belts such that the light beams both get obscured by the leading edge of the page at the same time.

A relay is wired to operate when one light signal is received without the other. If such a skewed page passes, the edge is not sensed by both sensors at precisely same time, and the relay operates to stop the conveyor. Skew tolerance is set as delay time on the time delay relay.

Skew can be detected ''on the fly'' without actually stopping the pages.
