Product Inspection
Quality control can be easily automated using photoelectric
controls.
For example, a pair of photoelectric beams can be used to eject
aerosol containers with a missing button. One light beam is directed
across the conveyor belt and is used to locate the can. The other
light beam is directed towards the position of the button and performs
the inspection.
If no button is present, the container is diverted for manual
re-processing.
The locator control is set to energize its logic output when the
beam is obscured (dark mode). This output is used to control power
to the inspector light source. When the leading edge of a can breaks
the locator beam, the inspector LED is momentarily turned on.
The inspector control is set to operate when the beam is not
obscured by the can nozzle (light mode). This control operates the
eject mechanism. If the inspector beam is unbroken, a spray can is
missing a nozzle and is ejected.
Inspection can be done at extremely high speed and is not
dependent on the line speed or container spacing.
