Restrooms
In many areas of the country, water often times becomes a scarce
resource. Photoelectric controls can help conserve precious water
that is also needed for sanitation.
A photoelectric control is set to a particular count by the
restroom manager. The light beam is directed across the room such
that people interrupt the beam on their way to use the facilities.
When the preset number of customers have visited the facility, the
flushing mechanism is activated and the count is reset to zero.
The frequency of flushes is therefore determined by the amount of
traffic, which is more realistic than using equal intervals of time
throughout the day. The control can be hidden to prevent tampering as
the beam is invisible (infrared).
